Where Can I Find My Appliance Model Number?

Your appliance’s model and serial number are usually printed on a label, sticker, or metal plate attached to the appliance.

We’re looking for the MODEL or MODEL NO. You don’t need to enter the serial number unless requested.

Refrigerator / Freezer

Check these common locations:

  • Inside the fresh-food/refrigerator compartment on a side wall near the top
  • On the ceiling inside the refrigerator compartment
  • Behind or beside the crisper drawers
  • On an interior wall near the bottom of the refrigerator
  • Inside the freezer compartment
  • Around the door frame when the door is open

Tip: The model tag is almost always inside the refrigerator rather than on the back.

Dishwasher

Open the dishwasher door and look:

  • Along the left or right side of the door opening
  • On the top edge of the dishwasher door
  • Along the side edge of the door
  • On the frame surrounding the dishwasher tub

Tip: You normally do not need to pull the dishwasher out.

Washing Machine

Top-Load Washer

Check:

  • Under the lid, around the opening of the washer
  • On the back of the control panel
  • On the rear of the washer cabinet

Front-Load Washer

Open the door and check:

  • Around the door opening/frame
  • Just inside the washer opening
  • On the inside of the door
  • Occasionally on the rear of the machine

Dryer

Open the dryer door and check:

  • Around the door opening
  • On the cabinet just inside the door
  • On the inside surface of the door
  • Occasionally on the rear of the dryer

Tip: Look around the opening before trying to move the dryer.

Range / Oven

For a freestanding or slide-in range, check:

  • Around the oven door frame
  • Behind or around the lower storage/warming drawer
  • On the frame visible after opening the lower drawer
  • Around the sides of the oven opening

Tip: Try opening or removing the bottom drawer. This is a very common location.

Wall Oven

Open the oven door and check:

  • Around the oven door frame
  • Along either side of the oven opening
  • Along the bottom or top edge of the opening
  • On double ovens, check around both oven openings

Do not remove the oven from the cabinet to find the model number.

Cooktop

Check:

  • On the underside of the cooktop
  • Inside the cabinet directly underneath the cooktop
  • On the bottom of the burner box

Important: Please don't remove or lift the cooktop to find the model number.

If the label isn't safely accessible, simply select “I can't find it” on the service request form.

Microwave

Check:

  • Inside the door opening
  • On the back of the microwave
  • On a side or bottom surface

Over-the-Range Microwave

Open the microwave door and check:

  • Around the door opening/frame
  • On the interior wall near the opening
  • Behind or underneath the grease filters on some models

Do not remove the microwave from the wall to locate the model number.

Wine / Beverage Cooler

Check:

  • Inside the cabinet on a side wall
  • Near the top of the interior compartment
  • Around the door opening
  • Behind or near the lower kick plate
  • On the rear of some freestanding units

Ice Maker

Check:

  • Inside the ice storage area
  • Behind or beneath the ice bin
  • Around the door or lid opening
  • On an interior side wall
  • Behind the lower access panel on some standalone units

Trash Compactor

Open the compactor drawer and check:

  • Around the drawer opening/frame
  • On the side of the cabinet visible with the drawer open
  • Behind or alongside the drawer

Still Can't Find It???

That's okay! You don't need to move, uninstall, or disassemble your appliance just to locate the model number. Take a quick look in the locations above. If you still can't find the tag, simply continue with your service request without it. Have a picture of the label but aren't sure which number is the model?
